Houston Slayercon Report
April 2-4, 2005 I'm not really quite sure where to start this report. The beginning for me was some time on Saturday night, but from what I hear there was much drunken debauchery on Friday night that I missed...maybe somebody can fill in the spaces on that. Definitely not Kat Eyz, though, since she was drunk enough to have her "babysitters" be Jonathan, Camden and Wendi. Not smart. Anyway, this report will be different from my past ones. Since it seems that no matter how much or how little I say about things that happen over the weekend, someone takes it to heart, gets jealous, feels left out or mad, etc...so a lot of details will be left out, and this report probably won't be very interesting. But here goes anyway... Saturday afternoon, I was convinced that my plane was not going to take off on time. It was terrential downpours in Philadelphia, and massive flooding everywhere. But luck was with me for once, and we made it to Houston on time. Early, infact. As I stepped off the plane, I learned from CNN that the Pope had died while we were in the air. Very sad, really. I am Catholic, and actually was very upset about it. I liked the guy. Anyway.. Got to the hotel around 8:30pm and promptly headed to Froggy's room. He had a suite like the one we were SUPPOSED to have, plus we were on a "key" floor that everyone couldn't get to, so all of the parties were happing in Froggy's room. Cool with us. No mess to clean up and we can go to bed if we want to. Walked into Froggy's room and Deb (Kat Eyz), Cindy (Dianagodessa), Karen, and Mike (from Small Planet Pictures) were hanging out. I hung with them for a while and ate the pizza I had brought with me. I then proceeded to tell Deb I wasn't in the mood to party at all. Riiiiight. After I ate, I headed up to our room on the 10th floor to wash up and change after travelling all day. Cate was in the room and we talked a bit, I got ready, and we headed back down to Froggy's. After that, Woodward, Paul and Camden came in for a few to chill and grab something to drink...non-alcoholic for Camden, of course. This was the moment in which I was dubbed our new Pope. I know it's wrong. But it was so funny. Woodward made the Pope hat for me, and no way could we let that go to waste! So yes you read it correctly, the church has already chosen the next Pope and that is me, lol. Saturday night in its entirety was an entire blur. I saw F*ckin Larry, my baby Dizzy, Wendy, Shell, David, SID, Sunlit, and a bunch of other people who I can't remember because I was so trashed. I blame the 6 Smirnoff Twisted's I had while messing around down in the dance...then the 2 Heinekin's, the half a bottle of freaking champagne, and that pink "X-Rated" crap that got handed to me. I swear, if you lit a match near me, I would've caught on fire, there was so much alcohol in me. I also stole Dizzy's big cigar and smoked that. I don't smoke. There was also my usual making out with girls...I was just way drunk. A few other special guests showed up to party as some point too, but I was too drunk to notice. Bedtime came around 6:30am, when I stumbled (unassisted, no less) into room 1022, molested Karen in bed, jumped on Deb in the other bed, and then passed out fully-clothed, face down on the sofa bed. It wasn't pretty. 9am rolled around pretty d**n quick, and I was SICK. I still needed to go register (thank you Cynthia for pulling my stuff out first thing..that made my life so much easier) and have a photo with Amber taken. I put no effort ino what I wore, put no makeup on, took no shower, and didn't fix my hair. This was the sickest I have ever been...and it took all my energy to stumble into the correct photo room without throwing up on everyone. I was one of the last ones to get my picture, and I asked Amber about wearing the Pope hat before I actually did it. We all though it was hilarious..even Craig. Then it was over and I was done. A nap was in order for about an hour, then a shower. I reappeared around 2pm in the bonus room, just in time to hear Jonathan's Nathan Fillion fart story. It was one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I like Jonathan...and Jenny Mollen was one of the coolest people ever! I'm so excited to stay in touch with her. She's great, and I can see the attraction with her and Drew Goddard. Around 2:30 was the autograph sessions for the one-day and extra autograph people. I had both, so I hopped in line with my 'Chance' dvd. Marsters was first, goody goody. But I have to admit that he was very nice, and I didn't expect him to be, so props to him for that. He called me by name, so it wasn't like he didn't know who I was...then he asked how I was doing, I asked how he was doing, he said he was better, we talked about my Rolling Stones 1972 tour shirt, my cell phone rang, and I was off. Amber was next, and she was cool as always. She knew and spelled my name without any prompting...since she had known me from another event I had worked. We laughed about the Pope hat, and she was mad I didn't bring the picture down so she could see it. Andy was last, and it pains me to say he wasn't anything special. I've met him a few times and loved him...he was just not so personable on Sunday...my autographed was signed very quickly without even looking up or saying hi. But I still like Andy. He was probably just not having a great day. After autographs, we chilled in the concierge lounge for a while and ate free food. Then we said goodbye to Woodward, and went down with Camden to see the 'Chance' Q&A with Amber. It was the only Q&A I saw, and she was funny as ever. Camden's Q&A was next, which I didn't stay for, because I wasn't feeling well. Later, we got something to eat in the hotel bar, and then went swimming. Actually, we sat in the hot tub, which wasn't even hot, so we got out pretty quickly and went back upstairs...we wanted to make a party out of it, but with everyone getting held up at dinner, and the hot tub sucking, we just decided to leave. After the pool, we got ready and headed down to the pajama party, which started late because people were STILL at dinner. We danced like dorks a little, dressed in the thing from the trash can, did our own Q&A, had some drinks with Mike and SID, danced on tables, and then decided the dance was boring, and headed up to the party in Froggy's room... Karen and Cindy called it quits pretty early, since Cindy likes to sleep and Karen's flight was way early. Cate had already left around 5 that day, so just Deb and I stayed at the party. I drank a lot more, but not enough to make me ridiculously sick or friendly. Hung out with Mike, F*ckin Larry, Wendi, Anita, Froggy, and KissMeJane (who I love) drinking and talking..having a great time. Dizzy was being anti-social, so I was "mad" at him, lol. All in all, a great time. We made it to bed around 4am, were up by 8:30, and at the airport by 10am. The ride over to the airport in the Pope-mobile was hilarious, and a great end to the weekend. It was sad saying goodbye to everyone, but I know I will see everyone very soon, I hope!!! Deb, Cate, Cindy, Karen, Summer, Shell, Wendi, SID, Joe, Paul, Bruce, Dizzy, F*ckin Larry, Mike, Anita, Marie, KissMeJane, Chevonne, girl I made out with, Froggy, girls I sat in the windowsill drinking with (I think one of you was named Heather), Fernando, Jonathan, Camden, Jenny, Amber, Aria, Sunlit, Leiden, Eternal, David, and everyone I know I left out...I miss you guys and had a blast!!! |
