Kyle XY
Monday, April 7, 2008; 7:00 pm
From E.T. to Edward Scissorhands, the stranger in a strange land is a metaphor for modern alienation, but with ABC Family's Kyle XY, the fable is melded with the confusion and awkwardness of being a teenage boy and the product of a science experiment gone awry. Bereft of social skills and human emotions, Kyle has gradually adopted the basic tools of interaction, but remains an enigma to all—including himself. As this sci-fi smash heads into its third season, join the writers and cast as they discuss Kyle's journey to unlock the mysteries of his existence.
In Person: Eric Tuchman, Executive Producer; David Himeltarb, Executive Producer; Julie Plec, Supervising Producer; Matt Dallas, "Kyle"; April Matson, "Lori Trager"; Chris Olivero, "Declan McDonough"; Jaimie Alexander, "Jessi XX"
From Class Clown to Social Critic:
An Evening with George Carlin
Thursday, May 8, 2008; 7:00 pm
George Carlin has long been one of America's sharpest social critics, employing a keen analytical mind, dazzling verbal dexterity, moral outrage, and slashing wit to point out the stupidity and hypocrisy so often displayed by the human race. Join us for a conversation with the legendarily provocative comedian, which will undoubtedly include at least a few of the seven words you can't say on television.
In Person: George Carlin
Make No Bones About It
Wednesday, April 9, 2008; 7:00 pm
It's Moonlighting meets Law & Order and CSI. Forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth solve murders that involve victims in states of advanced decomposition, backed by a colorful staff of scientists at the Jeffersonian. Brennan and Booth's investigations engross the viewer both intellectually and emotionally as their contrasting, yet complimentary, personalities and world views are further explored and revealed with each new case. Join the cast and creative team of Bones for a conversation about one of TV's most thoughtful crime dramas.
In Person: David Boreanaz, "Special Agent Seeley Booth"; Emily Deschanel, "Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan"; Cast and creative team
Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves: An Evening with The Riches
Friday, April 18, 2008; 7:00 pm
Now in its second season, FX's The Riches takes a satirical look at the American need for self-improvement and upward mobility while mining the full horror—and darkly comedic potential—of those identity theft warnings that accompany your monthly bank statement. Gonzo comic Eddie Izzard and critical darling Minnie Driver are Wayne and Dahlia Malloy, Irish-American gypsies working grifts and cons in the Deep South who appropriate the surname of the recently deceased, well-to-do Riches, thereby trading in their mobile home for a McMansion. But in their ploy for the American Dream, the Malloys come to realize that life in suburbia may be the biggest scam of all. Join the actors and writers of The Riches as they regale us "buffers" (i.e., nontravelers) with their tales.
In Person: Minnie Driver, "Dahlia Malloy"; Eddie Izzard, "Wayne Malloy"; Cast and creative team
The Sarah Silverman Program
Monday, April 21, 2008; 7:00 pm
Sarah Silverman's slash-and-burn brand of comedy does unspeakable things to the sitcom format in her critically hailed, brutally irreverent Comedy Central series, The Sarah Silverman Program. Come hear Sarah and other members of the creative team discuss the production of the show, their penchant for shocking subject matter, and the pros and cons of dating the Almighty.
In Person: Sarah Silverman, Cast and creative team
Moonlight and Vampires: Never Out of Date
Tuesday, April 22, 2008; 7:00 pm
Long live Mick St. John! Not that he has much choice. A reluctant vampire turned L.A. private eye—"If I can help others it might make up for what I am"—Mick (Alex O'Loughlin) is the tormented soul of CBS's revisionist first-year supernatural drama Moonlight. Join him and the rest of the show's cast and creative team for a screening and discussion, and see what really happens when vampires come out at night.
In Person: Joel Silver, Executive Producer; Alex O'Loughlin, "Mick St. John"; Sophia Myles, "Beth Turner"; Jason Dohring, "Josef Konstantin"; Shannyn Sossamon, "Coraline"
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
(bring your own lotion)
Monday, June 30, 2008; 7:00 pm
This hilariously unapologetic FX comedy pokes fun at everything from conflicts in the Middle East to religion to incest. Creator Rob McElhenney and codeveloper Glenn Howerton double as the stars of this show about four dysfunctional twentysomething friends who run—just barely—a dive bar in Philly. Danny DeVito costars as a new kind of TV dad, in the midst of an extended midlife crisis (but a heck of a lot nicer than Louie De Palma). Join the creators and cast for an evening of laughs and insights.
In Person: Charlie Day, "Charlie Kelly"; Glenn Howerton, "Dennis Reynolds"; Rob McElhenney, "Mac"; Kaitlin Olson, "Dee Reynolds"; Danny DeVito, "Frank Reynolds"
